The largest industry in Monroe County is agriculture.  Farms of all sizes are located throughout the county.  Agriculture has led to many successful businesses locating in Monroe County, depending heavily on the farming industry.

farms

Monroe County has farms of all sizes, from the family farm to large dairy operations.  Dairy is by far, the #1 agricultural industry in the County.  Other farms across the County raise beef, poulty, pork and even emus and llamas.  Cash crop farms have increased in #s over the past few years due to the heavy need for feed by the large milking parlor facilities in the County.

cranberry growers

Monroe County is known for it's booming cranberry industry around the Warrens & Tomah areas.  Wisconsin is recognized as one of the top cranberry growing States in the country and Monroe County is a big reason for that.

Amish community

Monroe County has one of the largest Amish communities in the country.  Their simple farm life co-exists nicely with the rural setting of Monroe County.  Our area has become a very popular tourist attraction with Amish farm tours and selling their high quality Amish made furniture, woodworking, quilts and food products.

organic farming

Organic farming has grown rapidly in Monroe County.  Dairy, beef and poultry farmers are heavily recruited for their organic farming practices.  Organic Valley is the largest organic food products company in the U.S. and we're proud to have their distribution center in our County and further expansion of facilities are a strong possibility in the near future.

specialty cheese factories

With the large dairy industry in Monroe County, it's only natural to have specialty cheese factories in our area.  These companies use the locally produced milk and create specialty cheeses that are not just sold locally, but world-wide!

Ag-Related businesses

The large agricultural industry in Monroe County has led to many farm-related businesses locating within our County. Dairy Equipment, Feed & Agronomy Centers, Farm Implement Dealers, Livestock Sales Barns, Milk Plants, etc.  The farming community does not have to travel far to get their products & services.
